Permanent Residency

Singapore PR for professionals under the PTS scheme

The Professionals, Technical Personnel and Skilled Workers (PTS) scheme is the main PR route for foreigners working in Singapore. It is also the most competitive, so preparation matters.

  • EP, S Pass and PEP holders
  • Family included in one application
  • Profile strengthening plan

Who can apply under PTS

You can apply under the PTS scheme if you are working in Singapore on one of these passes:

  • Employment Pass (EP)
  • S Pass
  • Personalised Employment Pass (PEP)

Holders of other work passes, such as the ONE Pass and EntrePass, should check the current ICA rules for their pass with us. Your spouse and unmarried children under 21 can be included in your application.

There is no official minimum period of employment, but most successful applicants have a stable work history in Singapore and recent payslips and tax records to show it.

Work Permit holders are not eligible for PTS. If you hold a Work Permit, ask us about upgrading to an S Pass or EP first.

What makes a strong PTS application

ICA does not publish its criteria in detail, but these factors are widely understood to matter:

Common mistakes we see

  • Applying too early, before you have a meaningful work and tax record
  • Inconsistent information between the e-PR form and supporting documents
  • Missing or uncertified translations of Chinese or Thai documents
  • A generic cover letter that does not explain your contribution or commitment
  • Reapplying immediately after a rejection without changing anything

Frequently asked questions

How long should I work in Singapore before applying for PR?

There is no fixed rule. Many successful applicants have worked here for at least 1 to 2 years, but the right time depends on your full profile. We will tell you if waiting would help.

Is S Pass enough for PR?

S Pass holders can apply under PTS. Approval rates tend to be higher for applicants with higher salaries and longer stays, so preparation is especially important.

Can I apply for PR if I change jobs?

You can, but a recent job change can make your profile look less stable. If you plan to move, talk to us about timing first.

Does my employer need to support my PR application?

You apply as an individual, but you will need an employment letter and salary documents from your employer.
