Why PR applications are rejected
ICA does not explain individual decisions. From our reviews, the most common underlying reasons are:
- Applying too soon, with a short work or residence history
- A profile that does not stand out in a competitive year
- Weak or generic presentation of contribution and commitment
- Inconsistent, incomplete or poorly translated documents
- Recent job changes or gaps in employment
- Little evidence of integration into Singapore society
Appeal or reapply?
| Option | When it makes sense | What is needed |
|---|---|---|
| Appeal | Your circumstances have improved, or important information was not presented | A written appeal with new supporting evidence |
| Reapply | Your profile needs time to strengthen | A new application after real changes, usually after several months |
| Different route | PTS is unlikely to succeed soon | Consider the spouse scheme, or an LTVP first if you are married to a Singaporean or PR |
Our appeal process
Review the rejected application
We go through your submitted e-PR form and documents in detail.

Strengthen the evidence
You collect new documents, such as recent payslips, promotions, or community involvement records.
Write and submit
We write a clear, respectful appeal letter and guide the submission.
Frequently asked questions
How long should I wait before reapplying for PR?
There is no fixed waiting period, but most people benefit from waiting at least 6 to 12 months so their profile actually improves.
Does a previous rejection affect a new application?
ICA can see your history. A rejection does not stop you from succeeding later, but your new application should show clear progress.
Is the appeal letter included in your PR packages?
Our PR Premium (Family) package includes an appeal letter at no extra cost if your application is rejected. See pricing.
