Who can apply for an LTVP
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) issues LTVPs to family members of Singapore Citizens and PRs. A Singaporean or PR family member usually acts as the local sponsor.
| Applicant | Sponsor | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Foreign spouse | Singapore Citizen or PR spouse | Spouses of citizens may qualify for the enhanced LTVP+ |
| Unmarried children under 21 | Singapore Citizen or PR parent | Including stepchildren and legally adopted children |
| Parents | Singapore Citizen or PR child | Assessed on the sponsor’s ability to support them |
| Mother or grandmother of a student | The child’s Student Pass | Accompanies a young child studying in Singapore, subject to ICA conditions |
Family members of Employment Pass and S Pass holders (such as common-law spouses or parents of high earners) apply for an LTVP through the Ministry of Manpower instead. Ask us if you are unsure which route applies to your family.
LTVP+ for spouses of Singapore Citizens
The Long-Term Visit Pass-Plus (LTVP+) is an enhanced pass for foreign spouses of Singapore Citizens. It offers longer validity than a standard LTVP and access to some healthcare subsidies, giving families more stability while they build towards PR.
Eligibility depends on factors such as the length of marriage and whether the couple has Singapore Citizen children. We check which pass you qualify for before you apply.
Planning to marry a Singaporean?
If you plan to marry a Singapore Citizen, ICA offers a Pre-Marriage Long-Term Visit Pass Assessment. It tells the couple, before the wedding, whether the foreign partner is likely to qualify for a long-term pass. It is a useful step for couples who want certainty about living in Singapore together.
Can LTVP holders work?
Spouses of Singapore Citizens and PRs on an LTVP or LTVP+ can generally work in Singapore once their employer obtains a Letter of Consent from the Ministry of Manpower. Other LTVP holders usually need their own work pass.
Our LTVP application process
Eligibility check
We confirm which pass fits your family (LTVP, LTVP+ or a work pass route) and what the sponsor must provide.
Documents and translations
We prepare marriage and birth certificates, sponsor income records and certified translations of Chinese or Thai documents.
Relationship and support evidence
We help you show a genuine relationship and that the sponsor can support the family, which is where many applications are weak.
Submission
The sponsor submits the application online through ICA. We check every field with you first.
Issuance and renewal
We guide the formalities after approval and remind you before renewal is due.
From LTVP to PR and citizenship
Many families use the LTVP as a stepping stone. After living in Singapore together, a foreign spouse can apply for PR as the spouse of a Singaporean or PR, and later for Singapore citizenship. We plan all three stages with you from the start.
Documents usually needed
- Passport of the applicant and NRIC of the sponsor
- Marriage certificate, or birth certificates for children and parents
- Sponsor’s income documents, such as payslips and tax assessments
- Housing details showing where the family will live
- Certified English translations of Chinese or Thai documents (结婚证, 户口本, ทะเบียนสมรส, ทะเบียนบ้าน)
Frequently asked questions
How long is an LTVP valid?
Validity is decided by ICA case by case. A first LTVP is often issued for one to two years, while LTVP+ usually has a longer validity. Both can be renewed.
Can my LTVP application be refused?
Yes. ICA assesses the relationship, the sponsor’s ability to support the family and the applicant’s background. If your application is refused, we review it and advise whether to appeal or reapply.
Can I apply for PR while on an LTVP?
Yes. Spouses and children of Singapore Citizens and PRs can apply for PR, and many do so after holding an LTVP for some time.
Can I bring my parents to Singapore on an LTVP?
Parents of Singapore Citizens and PRs may be considered for an LTVP, depending on the sponsor’s circumstances. Parents of Singapore Citizens can also apply for PR.
Do you help with LTVP renewals?
Yes. Renew before your pass expires and keep your documents up to date. We handle renewals as a separate, lower-cost service.
